Fire Raging Within

The interactive light sculpture was a hit with the kids at the opening. This piece changes from pink to raging red as the ambient (external) or personal (internal) light conditions are varied. The internal light is controlled by a dimmer switch attached to the piece.

New Work in ProcessWorks

I have been working in the gallery, keeping the ice pieces evolving.

Here are some of the results.

Process Works Art Show

Process Works Opening - Jan 18th, 6-8 PM at the New Art Center in Newton

Show dates are January 14 - February 24, 2008

Details here

I am in the middle of setting up my show at the New Art Center to open in Jan 08.

It is called Process Works and it will feature work that I have done in this class.

I will be updating this blog with my progress as well as any changes that I make to the exhibit as it goes on. I plan to be working during the time that the show is up - true to the idea that this is a work in progress.

Please stop by at the opening or anytime that the exhibit is up in the next few months.

Dan's Installation piece

For the last assignment of 2007, we had the option to create an installation in a day. I worked on this "habitation" piece that included some dripping paint and a nice little nook to hang out in.

Group Piece

We have been experimenting with a variety of materials this Fall. One of the methods we are using is poured concrete and plaster.

This is a group piece that started as a mass of poured concrete with rebar and objects added as it cured. It weighs a ton, and is about four feet in diameter.

Maddy Flooring Piece

This is a piece that Maddy did using some recuperated under-flooring that Jane brought in from a botched contractor job at her house. It's about 2'x3'.
